  • Spaghetti noodles

  • 1 lb hamburger

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 1 quart homemade canned tomatoes, or a 28 oz can tomatoes

  • 2 8 oz cans tomato sauce

  • 1 – 2 tablespoons oregano

  • 1 – 2 tablespoons basil

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon salt and pasta noodles. Cook pasta while making the sauce. When noodles are tender, drain.
  • Brown hamburger, & onion.  Season with 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder and salt & pepper.  Drain and return to saucepan.
  • Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Mix well. Simmer 5-10 minutes.
  • In a small bowl mix together the cornstarch and water.  Then while stirring the sauce gradually add the cornstarch mixture.
  • Simmer another 5 minutes.
  • Serve over noodles and top with Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  •  I make this recipe to taste.  I add ingredients until it tastes “right.”  This is my basic recipe, but tweak it until you like it!  I like it best with fresh garlic and fresh Parmesan cheese.
  • I like Jovial brown rice spaghetti noodles best!
