Rachelle’s Spaghetti Sauce

Spaghetti noodles
1 lb hamburger
1 medium onion, diced
1 quart homemade canned tomatoes, or a 28 oz can tomatoes
2 8 oz cans tomato sauce
1 – 2 tablespoons oregano
1 – 2 tablespoons basil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
Directions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon salt and pasta noodles. Cook pasta while making the sauce. When noodles are tender, drain.
- Brown hamburger, & onion. Season with 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder and salt & pepper. Drain and return to saucepan.
- Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Mix well. Simmer 5-10 minutes.
- In a small bowl mix together the cornstarch and water. Then while stirring the sauce gradually add the cornstarch mixture.
- Simmer another 5 minutes.
- Serve over noodles and top with Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- I make this recipe to taste. I add ingredients until it tastes “right.” This is my basic recipe, but tweak it until you like it! I like it best with fresh garlic and fresh Parmesan cheese.
- I like Jovial brown rice spaghetti noodles best!
